Various types of seedling beds
Ebb and flow benches are a simple and cost-effective hydroponic system. Pots are filled with an inert medium that holds water and nutrients but does not provide them like soil. The system works by flooding the bench with nutrient solution, then draining it away in cycles. Rolling benches improve efficiency by allowing easy movement. This system is widely used with seedbeds and trays in greenhouses.
Flood Benches
1. Selection of Seedbed Dimensions
The internationally accepted standard size for tidal seedbeds is 4550mm × 1690mm (length × width), which is commonly referred to as 4.55m × 1.7m. Therefore, when designing seedbeds, the length of a single seedbed should be a multiple of 4.55m, and the width should be a multiple of 1.7m. This ensures maximum space utilization without waste. Based on the available area in the floor plan, we have designed seedbeds in two sizes: 1.7m × 18m and 1.7m × 22.5m.
2. Seedbed Configuration
- The greenhouse is equipped with 37 seedbeds of 1.7m × 18.2m and 31 seedbeds of 1.7m × 22.75m.
- The total seedbed area is ㎡.
- The total number of tidal bed trays that can be placed: 303.
- The total number of plug trays that can be placed: 14,544.
3. Features of the Tidal Seedbed
- Frame material: Aluminum alloy.
- Structure: Hot-dip galvanized steel frame for durability.
- Mobility: Can move laterally over long distances and can be adjusted vertically for precise water level control in tidal irrigation.
- Safety feature: Equipped with anti-tilt limit devices to prevent instability caused by uneven weight distribution.
- Work aisles: Can create a 0.6m operational aisle between any two seedbeds.
- Load capacity: Maximum 40kg/m².
- Application: Specially designed for tidal irrigation systems.
