💧Humidity
Humidity is a critical factor in greenhouse climate management, directly affecting plant transpiration, photosynthesis, and nutrient uptake. Proper humidity levels help maintain plant health while reducing the risk of diseases. If humidity is too high or too low, it can negatively impact crop growth:
- High Humidity (>85%): Increases the risk of mold, fungal infections, and diseases such as gray mold and downy mildew.
- Low Humidity (<50%): Accelerates plant transpiration, leading to excessive water loss, leaf wilting, and fruit cracking.
Humidity Management
Humidity Increasing Systems
When humidity levels are too low, the following methods can be used to increase humidity
- High-Pressure Fogging System: Atomizes water into fine mist particles that evaporate quickly, increasing air humidity while providing cooling effects.
- Evaporative Cooling System (Wet Pad & Fan): Uses water evaporation from cooling pads to increase air humidity while lowering the temperature.
- Floor Watering: Spraying water on the ground to allow evaporation, helping to raise humidity levels.
- Ultrasonic Humidifier: Converts water into fine mist using ultrasonic technology, ensuring precise humidity control in greenhouse environments.
Humidity Reduction Systems
When humidity is too high, the following systems help reduce moisture levels to prevent plant diseases
- Natural Ventilation System: Opens roof or side vents to enhance airflow and expel excess moisture.
- Forced Ventilation System: Uses exhaust fans and air circulation fans to improve airflow and lower humidity.
- Heating for Dehumidification: Warms the air to lower relative humidity and works with ventilation systems to expel moisture.
- Dehumidifiers: Actively remove moisture from the air, providing precise humidity control for sensitive crops.
